Late weekend recovery  Over the weekend, total market capitalization dipped earlier on Friday from ~$221.2 billion to ~$214.7 billion before recovering to ~$223.3 billion late on Sunday. 24-hour volume averaged ~$53 billion at the time. Total market capitalization currently stands at ~$223.4 billion. BTC is currently trading at ~$8,260, up ~4% over the weekend. On the daily chart, BTC is currently challenging its 100-day EMA line. RSI is at ~45 (up from Friday's 36), indicative of growing bullish momentum. On the weekly chart, BTC managed to hold its 50-EMA support line and still remains to be trading between its 21- and 50-EMA lines.  |

A joint effort  Malaysia's biggest bank, the Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) to boost cross-border payments and remittances.   It will explore the possibility of transferring funds between Malaysia and Cambodia via Maybank's Maybank2u digital platform and NBC's blockchain-based Bakong payment system. According to the director-general of central banking at NBC, Chea Serey, the MoU allows "both institutions to reach another level of financial cooperation in further leveraging the technology to benefit the people in Cambodia and Malaysia." |
One for all  Ethereum Name Service (ENS), a distributed naming system, has announced the launch of multicoin support as 15 cryptocurrency wallets plan to use the new function. Crypto enthusiasts will be able to use one ENS name for all their cryptocurrency wallets in an ongoing implementation.  ENS also intends to incorporate the DNS namespace to support other addresses, and implement support for "all DNSSEC-enabled top-level domains in the near future". |
SOLD  Messaging platform Kik has been sold to holding company MediaLab, which also operates other apps including Whisper. The CEO of the organization behind the platform Kik Interactive, Ted Livingston, has promised to continue building the Kin cryptocurrency ecosystem originally created as part of the token sale process. They will partner with MediaLab to expand "the Kin integration" that will "further support the project".  MediaLab also intends to boost the app, cut down on bugs, and get feedback from users to identify desired features and potential issues. |

Jennifer Trelewicz, former chief technology officer of Google Russia and ex director of IBM's systems and technology laboratory, joins blockchain platform Credits (CS) as its new chief business officer (CBO)  Taiwanese electronic leader HTC has unveiled its first phone that runs a full Bitcoin (BTC) node, the Exodus 1s.

"Why or why not?" It is time for bitcoin to hit 40k. – Woah, that’s quite a jump! I think this is highly unlikely, but I wouldn’t rule out the possibility. It legit will be a hot time in the old town when it happens, oh the changes to unfurl! The market roller-coaster ride will be intense also no doubt. – Just like old times, hopefully.  The halving is proof of working. Representation of real value. – Yea, it highlights the scarce property of BTC.  The LTC halving was interesting at first but so far has turned out to be a flop. I expect BTC will do the opposite due to its liquidity and being the #1 coin by far; but, you never know. So, yes I am excited to see what happens. – Yeah, all eyes will be on BTC in May 2020. Good for it's future price growth! – Theoretically, yes. Curious to see if it'll follow the same pattern like the previous halvings. If it does, we make a profit. If it doesn't, well, we learn a lesson. So it's still a win-win. – Yeah, I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds! If past history is anything to go on,within the following 12 months the value of Bitcoin will increase dramatically, taking altcoins like ADA with it. – There has been a historical correlation, yes. Halving events make it harder for smaller miners by reducing the rewards. ASIC favours the bigger players. Perhaps CPU mining should attract greater and or different benefits to ensure decentralization into the future. – Hmm there are other coins for that. more awareness in the marketplace of BTC – Definitely. All eyes will be on the price action of BTC. Or, it could already be priced in prior and we don’t see any volatility. That would be so underwhelming. The cyclical rise of altcoins associated with the event. – Interesting. Possible! It’s been like that in the past. Adds to scarcity. Drives price up, and most importantly, I think new blood will enter market to get it while it still available. {Add the fact that 18th million coin is mined}. And we in for exciting times, even with prices down, coins can gather interest while we await the rule of Crypto. – Agree.  this will be exciting moment in BTC.. i am looking forward to it.. – Likewise! Very much looking forward to it. Been waiting patiently after hodling unrealized losses. Didn't sell enough of my crypto portfolio at the last ATH, which at the time was worth circa $8.9m. I think there will be a gradual increase in prices up to the halvening, but the bigger ATH will be in the long term after effects approximately 2 years from now. – Whale alert! Yeah, I share the same sentiments. I believe the price action to our next ATH will be one that is gradual.  cause the history teach – Gonna provide some valuable lessons for sure.  |
