- Binance unveils winner for a fan-designed helmet competition for BWT Alpine F1 driver, Pierre Gasly.
- Gasly will wear the fan-designed helmet during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix later this month.
- Binance will also offer fans a chance to win exclusive opportunities during the Grand Prix, including meeting the F1 driver.
In a team statement released today, Binance, the leading global crypto exchange by volume and a minor sponsor of the BWT Alpine F1 team, announced the winning fan-designed helmet for Pierre Gasly, which he will wear during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix set to be held later this month. In addition, fans will also have a chance to win exclusive opportunities, including a personal meet with the F1 driver at the race.
The helmet design competition was opened to every fan and F1 enthusiast worldwide from August 23 to September 8, 2023, asking them to create a Binance-inspired helmet design for Pierre Gasly. The response from the global F1 and cryptocurrency communities garnered over 700 submissions from participants in more than 140 countries. The winning helmet captured Binance values, resonated with its innovative ethos, and showed the cultural side of Abu Dhabi.
The winner designed a helmet inspired by Binance and Pierre Gasly’s F1 legacy, mixing it up with a bright pink colour to shine under the nighttime track lights while also paying homage to Arabic culture with a dedicated script. The winner showed his appreciation for the world of crypto and motorsport, stating his motivation as follows:
“Inspired by Binance’s brand colours, I made black and yellow the predominant colours. I also gave it a glossy surface finish to evoke the golden colour and allude to Arabic culture, along with Arabic calligraphy on the sides. Since the race will take place at night, I also used the colour of another sponsor (vibrant pink) to create a contrast with the rest of the design, making the helmet stand out under the nighttime lights.”
Apart from Pierre Gasly donning the helmet during the race, the winner will also receive a replica helmet autographed by Pierre Gasly.
“This community-focused contest and partnership has allowed me to feel even closer to my fan base,” Pierre Gasly stated. “Seeing all the creative submissions from our passionate community makes me more exhilarated, and I’m humbled by their incredible energy and passion which I’m excited to channel to the race.”
In addition, the partnership between Gasly and Binance will further give the driver’s fans an opportunity to enjoy the Pierre Gasly Experience during the Grand Prix, including race weekend hospitality, a personal meet with Gasly and signed mini-helmets.
“Seeing the global community come together within this creative platform and the overwhelming excitement has been an absolute joy. It highlights the power of offering fans distinctive engagement opportunities to strengthen connections,” said Rachel Conlan, Chief Marketing Officer at Binance.
The latest Pierre Gasly fan engagement experience is one of many of Binance’s sponsorships in the sports realm, adding to top teams and sportsmen sponsored by the exchange platform such as Cristiano Ronaldo. Conlan added that the exchange will continue to bring innovative and engaging sporting experiences to fans worldwide in the coming months.
