Today, we also have a new blog post on "Market-Neutral Derivatives Trading", so don't forget to check that out below too! Please do not forget to answer the polls down below too! Weekend doldrums Over the weekend, total market capitalization bounced within a tight range of ~$261.5 billion and ~$268.1 billion, and is currently at ~$268 billion. 24-hour volume over the weekend averaged ~$50 billion. BTC is currently trading at ~$10,360, pretty much where it left off on Friday. On the weekly chart, BTC is still trading above its 21, 50, 100, and 200-EMA lines, with RSI at ~59 indicative of moderate bullish momentum. However, the MACD has crossed to the downside of the signal line some time ago, and so we could see BTC testing the above support lines in the coming weeks. |

Powering through Over 600,000 new Bitcoin (BTC) mining machines are suspected to have gone online in the span of the last 3 months. This is due to a record high in computing power meant to mine BTC, as well as mining difficulty. A rough calculation suggests that more than half a million of state-of-the-art application-specific-integrated circuit (ASIC) miners have linked to the bitcoin network. Cryptocurrency trading and mining analysis startup TokenInsight estimates that this computer power will exceed the "threshold of 100 EH/s for the first time in its history." |
Big boys joining the fray Germany's Deutsche Bank has just joined JPMorgan's blockchain-based network, coined the Interbank Information Network (IIN). The Financial Times reported that in just 2 years of operations, the network has gained 320 banks that participate in swapping global payments data via the Ethereum (ETH) network. JPMorgan aims to hit 400 agreements with banks by the end of 2019, and plans to introduce other large banks soon. |
Rising to the challengeEuropean Central Bank (ECB) officials and those of 25 global central banks are set to meet with Facebook global stablecoin Libra's founders to determine its financial stability risks. Reuters reported ECB's hint on rolling out their own, quoting ECB Executive Benoit Coeure that regulators should "step up our thinking on a central bank digital currency." Concerns were previously raised over Libra. The Bank of International Settlements (BIS) cautioned of the chances of new banking sector risks created by financial services offered "by major companies such as Facebook, Google and Amazon." |
