Hold the line!  Over the weekend, total market capitalization rose from bounced between a range of ~$260.4 billion to ~$273.6 billion. Total market capitalization currently stands at ~$267.5 billion. BTC is currently trading at ~$10,410. On the daily chart, BTC continues to be trading above its 21, 50 and 100-day EMA lines after bouncing off the 21-day EMA line over the weekend. RSI is at ~50, indicative of some market indecisiveness at the moment.  |

Out in the wild  The code for running a blockchain node on Telegram's blockchain project, TON, has been released on its test network portal. Developers and community members interested in the blockchain can start looking into the inner workings of a full node, a validator node and the blockchain explorer.  According to the CTO of TON Labs, Mitja Goroshevsky, there are currently 100 nodes maintained by Telegram itself, another several by Goroshevsky's startup headed by investors in Telegram’s token sale, on the testnet. The mainnet launch for the Telegram Open Network, designed as a proof-of-stake protocol with the support of multiple “shardchains”, is set to happen by 31 Oct 2019. The TON blockchain will also be compatible with Ethereum-based software. |
Big heart Binance  Binance Charity, the philanthropic wing of major cryptocurrency exchange Binance that has previously supported initiatives for women's health and education, has now begun a campaign to help support victims of Hurricane Dorian. Binance Charity has started accepting cryptocurrency donations (in Bitcoin (BTC), Binance Coin (BNB) and XRP (XRP)) for a "Hurricane Relief Project" campaign to provide food and aid for hurricane victims through local organizations in affected areas. The donations and eventual disbursements will all be recorded on a blockchain to make the process more transparent. |
The digital age  The government of Catalonia is developing a decentralized identity platform, IdentiCAT, that seeks to give citizens control of their own data when interacting with online services.  According to the minister of Digital Policy and Public Administration, Jordi Puigneró, this project seeks to “qualify and digitally empower Catalan citizens so they may carry out activities with full assurance and security in the digital society of the 21st century.” IdentiCAT will be based on distributed ledger technology (DLT), with the Catalan government acting as the validator for the network. According to the government of Catalonia, "'IdentiCAT' will be the first digital identity at European level, which will be driven by the public sphere and managed by citizens themselves with the aim of becoming standard use in Catalonia." The “self-sovereign” system will use apps on mobile devices or or computers to allow citizens to “create and manage their own identities, with full legal effectiveness and privacy.” |

The BIP author is responsible for soliciting feedback and consensus for his or her suggested improvements within the community, and documenting dissenting opinions. |

Other news  dapp.com, the startup that provides data analytics for dApp products built on blockchains such as Ethereum, EOS, Tron, Steem and others, recently closed a $1 million Pre-A Investment round led by Hashed and Du Capital.  While speaking at the University of Basel, Swiss National Bank (SNB) President Thomas Jordan said that stablecoins pegged to foreign currencies could potentially hamper Switzerland’s monetary policy in some circumstances and increase the likelihood of bank runs.  Hardware wallet manufacturer Ledger recently announced that its crypto management software, Ledger Live, now supports Ethereum (ETH) ERC-20 tokens.

On Gold ans/or Silver (précious métal)...If you don't control it you don't own it... - Well, while that is true, the idea here is that you may be able to gain from the price movements of gold. As long as the gold reserves are verified, and audited I would invest in this. - Yeah it makes sense doesn’t it. It would open up the market. Gold is forever - The Earth’s currency.  best of both worlds- True. easy to do in crypto vs other markets - Real ez. They will fluctuate little - Negligible IMO. Portfolio diversification is wise. Now that a reputable company PAX which is regulated in NYS can provide an instant settlement in fractional ownership of gold, I’ll hold some. I’ve kept away from others with concerns about audit fraud or redemption problems.- Agree. Def something worth looking into. Just wanna hold bitcoin - Good to diversify from time to time. i would prefer to hodl BTC. i have learned one thing BTC is the king.- The one true king.  I love precious metals in my own possession only. If you want gold go buy it in your town at the local coin shop.- The idea here is that you are able to more easily trade/ exchange it, at perhaps a more accurate price, with someone else and at lower fees. What a thinker, on one hand, no will just buy gold. but I do see it having value for some people, I guess. I Just see and think of using crypto as a pegged to is not the ideals of bitcoin whitepaper and we shouldn't stray off that original idea, as that is what is the true beauty and great think of crypto. (And wasn't there one with diamonds some time back? Wasn't it a scam?) The Venezuela oil one also didn't go anywhere, if not mistaken. But in theory I also see value in the ideas. Sometimes I just wonder if implementation is done wisely. - Let’s make the assumption that it isn’t a scam and there is some verifiable way to prove that there are truthful audits taking place. Would there be value there? I think there will be. bit coin is backed by gold - Wut.  |
